Former Brigadier General Dean, who is now Captain Igor Lavroff, is still far from completing his main task, but the most pressing problems seem to have been solved. Somewhere in the depths of space, the quargs face a force capable of destroying cruisers with a powerful weapon that burns through armor. Yet Lavroff feels that even such a powerful potential ally of humans in the war against the quargs is being defeated. Which means that very soon the Earth Federation will have to repel a particularly massive attack by the sworn enemy. Does humanity have time to prepare for a decisive battle? Or is it too late?..

The Earth Federation prepares to repel an attack of the new enemy. Fleet Admiral Igor Lavroff feels confident of victory, knowing that Imperial warships will take part in the upcoming battle along with his fleet. But strange things begin to happen in the Empire, and it suddenly turns into a highly unreliable ally, leaving humans and the lizards alone with the enemy they are unable to fight on equal terms.

Rear Admiral Lavrov almost achieved his goal, at least that’s what it looks like. The subspace portal prototype has been successfully tested, the hypergate program has been approved by the President, and the Earth Federation has got a new ally. But the ally is weak, and he needs protection more than he can help the humans. Time is against Lavroff. He understands that the quargs have found an effective means of countering the Federation’s new weapons and are preparing a large-scale offensive. Lavroff has no doubt that the enemy will strike before the hyperportal is built. Despite a severe lack of time and misunderstanding of the top military leadership, he is preparing two operations at once – the defense of the Federation planets and a counter-attack.

Brigadier General Dean’s new life continues.  Now he is Cadet Igor Lavroff, who has managed to defeat a fatal disease, enroll in the Planetary Commando Academy and survive in battle on an enemy-occupied planet. He is still far from completing the task assigned to him by his command in his past life. But he moves steadily towards his goal, despite the intrigues he faces, the backstabbing  and the large-scale alien offensive threatening to destroy the Earth Federation long before Dean can fulfill his mission.

In a distant galaxy the Human Empire is slowly losing its war with alien invaders. Then one day the Empire discovers another human civilization millions of light-years away, but it lags behind technologically. This distant civilization is also in a war for its very existence. The Empire sees a chance for its salvation by joining with this potential ally. A portal consisting of a pair of hypergates on each side is needed, however. Meanwhile, the Empire's Brigadier General Dean has been exposed to deadly radiation in battle with the aliens, and he is preparing to meet his death. Unexpectedly, he is offered to take part in a top-secret experimental project – to have his mind transferred into the brain of an incurably sick young man lying in a coma in that distant human civilization. Dean’s task in this new body is to find a cure for his disease, then make a military career, strive to a high position in their society and ultimately to ensure that a second hyper-portal gate is built so that it will connect the two civilizations.

The German armies, encircled near Moscow, are not going to surrender. The Luftwaffe supplies the troops in the Moscow Pocket with transport planes. To save Army Group Center, the Wehrmacht generals gather forces and prepare a chemical weapons unblocking strike. Under these circumstances, Lieutenant Colonel Nagulin receives orders to cut off the supply of the Germans through the «air bridge» created by Göring. While Nagulin hunts for transport Junkers, the Abwehr once again sets a trap for himself.

An automatic reconnaissance ship of unknown origin appears in the Solar system, and this completely changes the balance of power on Earth. The carefully constructed plan, the implementation of which, it would seem, nothing could prevent, can only be thrown now in a trash can. An entirely different force is entering the scene, with no less advanced technology behind it than the one at General Nagulin's disposal.

Junior Lieutenant Peter Nagulin escaped from the Uman pocket, but his problems only increased. General Muzychenko, whose help he was counting on, was taken by plane to Moscow, where the NKVD was investigating the circumstances of the deaths of the two armies, and Pyotr himself falls into the focus of the NKVD's close attention. Meanwhile, a new catastrophe is brewing on the front, in comparison with which the defeat at Uman is only a prelude. Guderian's and Kleist's tanks seek to close a giant pincer around the troops of the Southwestern Front defending the capital of Soviet Ukraine…

Lieutenant Irs' squadron of space fighters guards the scientific base of a highly advanced space civilization stationed on the Moon. Scientists at the base are researching an evolving civilization on planet Earth. However, a rebellion breaks out in the republic, which owns the lunar base, and this revolt quickly escalates into a full-scale civil war. The base is attacked by a rebel cruiser, which destroys it, but also dies in the battle itself. Irs is the only survivor. His fighter jet is damaged, and he has no choice but to land on Earth, where World War II has already begun.

The new opportunities that Lieutenant Irs has after reconnecting with the Moonbase allow him to more accurately assess the balance of power in the world and understand that the Soviet successes in the war with Germany can in the near future turn into very big problems for the Soviet Union. However, so far he is the only one who has this understanding, and it is very difficult for him to convince the Soviet leadership that measures must be taken as soon as possible. The new threat is becoming increasingly real, and Major General Pyotr Nagulin will face not only the armed resistance of the Wehrmacht, but also the established stereotypes of thinking of the Soviet leaders, which can lead the country to war against the whole world.

Pyotr Nagulin finally sorted out his relationship with the NKVD and, it seems to him, convinced the Soviet leadership of his loyalty. However, his new position brought him new problems. He is now in Moscow, still far from the front, but Senior Lieutenant of State Security cannot calmly watch as hundreds of thousands of encircled Red Army soldiers die in the Kiev pocket. He goes to his superiors with a proposal that once again casts doubt on his fate.

The final book in the Brigadier General series. The defeat of the enemy fleet was not a final victory. The enemy is still strong and ready to fight, relying on the ancient weapons of the ancestors, and Admiral Lavroff is forced to constantly look back, waiting for a stab in the back, as the Empire, from an unreliable ally of the Earth Federation, is increasingly becoming a new threat.

Колонии удалось избежать уничтожения, но связь с Федерацией потеряна, а конкурирующие группировки правящих элит единственного мегаполиса планеты преследуют исключительно собственные интересы. Рой отступил из системы Бриганы, но Рич уверен, что это ненадолго. Враг не оставит в покое планету, на которой потерпел унизительное поражение. Вот только Рич всё еще не имеет достаточного политического веса, а те, у кого он есть полностью сосредоточились на борьбе за власть над разрушенным городом, считая, что раз анклав Роя на планете практически уничтожен, то всё худшее позади, и теперь самое время азартно делить плоды чужой победы.
